Optimize provides reports for Cost Saving Opportunities (CSO), for Bill Analysis, and for Cost vs Utilization (CvU). The Cost Saving Opportunities report includes information for both Idle Resources and Right Sizing. Reports can be viewed in a browser, downloaded for offline viewing, or emailed to select recipients.
Some parameters for the CSO reports and CvU reports can be modified by assigning policies to a data source.
In addition to being emailed to the user, reports are saved and viewable in the Optimize console. If an organization is deleted, the saved reports associated with the organization are also deleted.
When a user is removed from an organization, that user is also automatically removed from the recipient list for email reports.

Default reports for Cost Saving Opportunities, Bill Analysis, and Cost vs Utilization are automatically created and distributed by Optimize. All Optimize users will receive scheduled reports for each cloud service integration that is configured in Optimize. By default, all reports are sent daily at 12 AM, based on the server's defined UTC timezone. But you can change the frequency for emailing reports.
To receive default emails, the Optimize module must be enabled, an organization must be created, and at least one data source integration must be configured in Virtana Platform.
When new users are added to an Organization in the Optimize module, the users are automatically added to the recipient list for any default scheduled reports. The recipient list for emailed reports can be manually modified to add or delete users.
The options assigned to a Default report cannot be changed for that report, and the report cannot be deleted. However, you can make changes to the default settings and save them under a different report name.
An integration instance (such as AWS or Azure), with an associated billing account. The billing account can represent a single account or multiple accounts, if doing consolidated billing.

You can immediately email an existing report or schedule existing reports to be emailed on a regular basis.
Note
If an email report is not received when expected, it might be because the report has no output. Sometimes the settings for a report do not apply to any resources in your environment. When that happens, the report will be empty, displaying no results. If the report is set up for email, a report might not be sent.
About This Task
All reports are automatically sent daily at 13:00 UTC by default. You can modify the schedule from the Edit Scheduled Report form. You can change the frequency of emails, but not the time of day they are sent.
When users are added to Virtana Platform, they are automatically added to the recipient list for email reports. Other email addresses can be added manually, so emails can be sent to those who are not registered Virtana Platform users, such as managers or executives.
Tip
You can set up emails for distribution lists or configure a Slack email integration.
Prerequisites
The report to be scheduled must already exist and be available to you in Optimize.

The way you modify and view reports is basically the same for all report types in Optimize. To view a report, you must select a report filter and a time range, and then modify the report settings to customize the report results.
The following image provides an example of the actions you can take to customize reports.

When you modify the various options and filters for the report and close the Settings form, you can immediately see the changes in the Summary and Cost Details. Following are example images of the default settings for the Cost vs Utilization report. The images show how the settings in the form correspond to the elements in the report.

The following image shows the report elements as they relate to the report settings.
